Left vs. Right, it’s on the lips of most U.S. citizens. I’m not a Democrat or a Republican. I’m a concerned citizen, and here are some of my observations about divisive politics in The United States of America.
Discussions
Many people live on Twitter these days. It’s not difficult to see the birds-eye view of political discourse in America. Statements filled with lies, hate, fear, and division have spread across the Democrat and Republican parties.
I have observed this truth. In the future, I would like to prove this statement by tapping into the Twitter Firehose.
Right-leaning discussions are full of assertions; left-leaning discussions are full of questions.
Identity politics are counterproductive and do not serve the greater good. Mainstream political discourse serves to divide us into factions, which diminish our power to take power back from the oligarchy. We are fighting against ourselves; this is not the way.
Misinformation
Extremists have saturated fake news outlets with misinformation. Anyone can pick a news source that aligns with their preferred world view. Many people are inclined to stick to a single news source. Without a view of all sides, it’s impossible to maintain a view centered upon reality and practicality.
We need robust systems that help us cut through the noise and serve up meta information from many news sources to aid in our ability to align ourselves with reality. Putting our heads in the sand and believing that CNN or Fox News is gospel is a path to extremism and ignorance. We can do better; sifting through many news sources is a waste of our precious time.
We are Imbalanced
Antifa is a Terrorist Organization, stay out of Washington. Law enforcement is watching you very closely! @DeptofDefense @TheJusticeDept @DHSgov @DHS_Wolf @SecBernhardt @SecretService @FBI
- Donald J. Trump on Twitter
Meeting extremism with extremism is feeding into the divisive mentality that many citizens are led to believe is the right way to deal with everything from law enforcement to overthrowing the government. Extreme left and right ideologies are remarkably similar, and both are equally toxic. Balance is everything, it is the middle way where harmony and peace can be found. The United States needs to reflect on this fact and work its way back to the middle away from extremist madness.
Saturated with Malaise
Many of us feel unease as we discuss politics. Civil discussions are scarce, and most discussions are laced with hate and fear. Left vs. Right, You vs. Me, Us vs. Them. Sadly, this is where we are and where we will stay if cooler heads sit on the sidelines as extremists pull us in the wrong directions.
The center is paradise; it’s where we will prosper and find balance. Attacking each other with trashy news sources is an epic waste of time. Left vs. Right is dragging all of us in the mud.
What now?
Unfortunately, our reality has become a cynical wasteland. Luckily, there is hope in the form of apolitical action based on facts. If you’re feeling helpless, if you’re feeling alone, we have a plan, and we welcome anyone that aligns with the principles and values laid out to save the republic. We are ready to fight for balance, truth, temperance, and power. We are ready to leave the Left vs. Right mentality behind.
